Why was Movie Park Germany not sold to this French company?Īntje: Compagnie des Alpes already owns two German parks, Fort Fun and Panorama-Park, which are not so far away from Bottrop. Patrick: Six Flags sold their European parks to Star Parks, most of them were sold to Compagnie des Alpes. Of course it is not always possible to obtain a license for making an attraction, but we believe we have achieved great contracts with for instance Nickelodeon. That way, we are not relying on only one company. Currently we are now cooperating with several movie partners, like 20 th Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. But that might have given a similar problem when the owner wants to sell the park. Patrick: Was there no interest from other movie companies, like Paramount or even Universal to take over the park and convert it into a movie park of them?Īntje: I haven't heard about that. We have been discussing the possibility to become just an amusement park, but it is not so easy to create original themed areas. The entire park was breathing movies, so it was not so hard to convert the park to other movies. Patrick: Why did the park remain a movie oriented park, after the departure of Six Flags and Warner?Īntje: First of all, a movie park is rather unique. Even some of our staff is sometimes talking about the Wild Bunch instead of High Fall. And eventually it is normal, the former owners invested a lot in the park, but also into marketing. But of course it is very hard to avoid that people are still a little bit mixed up with all the Warner Bros. This year we also launched some commercials in the Netherlands. We have informed the German people via several ways. Was the name change quickly accepted for the audience?Īntje: A lot of effort was put in the fact we were still the same park, and not a new park.
